Danish sailboat 'seized by pirates' "A Danish sailboat carrying a family of five and two crew members has been seized by pirates in the Indian Ocean, officials say.

The Danish naval command received a distress signal from the vessel on February 24, the country's foreign ministry said on Tuesday.

'It can now be confirmed that the sailboat has been hijacked by pirates in the Indian Ocean.'

A Danish family consisting of the parents and their three children 12-16 years of age and two Danish crew members were aboard when the vessel was seized, it said.
